There are two types of cloth used on pool tables. Both are produced differently and will affect how the game plays and balls react on the surface.

Wool Cloth

Wool cloth is often referred to as napped cloth. This type of cloth is the most used in the UK, and the cloth is produced with a higher wool content than speed cloth. The wool surface of the cloth lays in one direction creating the nap. The nap allows more ball control and shot making. This popular cloth is similar to what you would find on a snooker table.

Speed Cloth

Speed cloth is a blend of wool and nylon. This cloth does not have a nap and is a tougher, faster cloth. This cloth is very popular on larger American style tables but is also popular with players looking for a very fast cloth to play on.

Atlas Speed Cloth

Atlas cloth is a napless speed cloth. This is a hard wearing and fast cloth.
